There have been many special moments in being a Councillor. One that has stood out for me is the number of conversations I have enjoyed with Councillor Mant about his time serving Gough Whitlam.

Correct me if I am wrong, I understand Councillor Mant was the Prime Minister’s Principal Private Secretary.

A real Labor man, Councillor Mant was there on that historic day in December 1975.

As we prepare to give our condolences to the family of Gough Whitlam and to observe a minute’s silence, it would be a fine tribute, if Councillor Mant would share some of his recollections of being with Gough Whitlam with the Chamber tonight.
