Savings from the carbon tax repeal won’t filter down to NSW ratepayers until at least mid-2016 after the state’s pricing regulator said it must wait for cost reductions to flow through the broader economy.
City of Sydney councillor Edward Mandla expressed disappointed that the savings have not been passed on.
“To fail to notionally include this adjustment in the council rate increase cap is to deny residential and business ratepayers savings they need to cushion their cost of living,” he said.
“Just as it has reduced their living costs generally, particularly in electricity,.”
