Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore has scuttled a plan to build 100,000 apartments and 75,000 offices in a run-down industrial estate in southern Sydney, a move Liberal councillor Edward Mandla said “would have made Karl Marx proud”.
Sydney Council instead wants to create a business park four times bigger than Macquarie Park on the 265ha “southern employment lands” which stretches from Green Square to Alexandria and Rosebery.
