Edward Mandla, Councillor, City of Sydney - I'm excited at the possibility of a City of Sydney that runs from the City down to the Airport and across to the coast.
It will be the most important economic and tourism zone in the Southern Hemisphere. Such a Council will see tremendous competition for Councillor roles and will attract high calibre people that previously would have not considered putting themselves forward for Local Government.
For the resident, it means better representation and with proper staffing of Councillor offices, you would expect tremendous access to elected representatives.
We could expect, that an amalgamated City of Sydney would be the ultimate goal of the best and brightest across the nation. For the resident, this means better policy making, a better front end and the ability to strategically plan rather than reactively plugging problems.
A super Council would allow Councillors to turn their focus to residents
